Brrrr.....

Oooo, it's chilly in here!!!!! Winter has come to Washington, and it even brought along a little snow this year! Wheee!!!! Hubs and I are natives of the Northeast, so we're used to winters with at least a few feet of snow and plenty of accumulation. It was actually kind of funny to be all excited about the first snow of the season here, even if it was only about two inches and barely lasted overnight. We bundled up in fleece and gloves and took a walk over to the convenience store down the road for some treats to munch by the fireplace, and between laughing about the amazed looks on people's faces and the utter stand-still traffic had come to, a good time was had by all. This was kitten's first ever experience with snow, and he was utterly baffled- spent hours sitting on the windowsill staring up at the sky, only turning away occasionally to ask us fretfully "what IS this stuff????" I can only imagine what would happen if we tried to take him out for a walk.... ;)

Things on the health front are coming along slowly. It turns out the nurse WAS mistaken regarding my meds, so I wasn't being paranoid. It was a bit frustrating to learn, though, that the doctors here have a full three business days before they HAVE to return your calls, so it was good that I took matters into my own hands. I've had to make three more trips back to the office to get stuck and actually up my dosages, but it looks like we've finally hit on a winner. My little rolling veins are screaming in protest, though, and the nurse doing my draw today informed me that I was "stingy"- well, after about the thirtieth blood sucking episode, yes, I am getting a little protective of my platelets! ;) Scott has also managed to bring home the flu that's been going around, so we're working on beating that into submission as well. Ah, December, how I love thee...

I'm actually pretty upbeat this morning, despite the general unpleasantness of the last few posts. (My apologies to all who have put up with the griping- you're truly wonderful and thank you so much for not running in the opposite direction!) I've even caught myself doing the unthinkable this year- I have actually been LOOKING for Christmas specials the first week of December. (I'm a bit of a grinch when it comes to the whole "start the commercialization before the turkey digests!", so this is a big admission from me.) Hubs and I both loved those Claymation style movies like Frosty and Rudolph, and I've managed to find most of the classics. We haven't WATCHED them yet, mind, but they are in the house. Now, if I could just remember what that one was called with Santa being raised by fairies....

Since we've both been a bit homebound of late I made a boo-boo and taught Scott how to play Magic the card game. How was I to know that it would turn into an addiction? I caught him up at 1 am the other night attempting to trounce someone on a freebie tournament site, and I realized that I've created a monster. (I'll give him credit- he did go to bed once he'd won.) We've had a good time battling it out in front of the fire with the cat playing referee, though, so I suppose it's not such a bad thing. Besides, if it weren't this game, we'd be playing Texas Hold'Em, and I'd have no chance. (Hubs is a card shark. Really.) I can think of much worse ways to spend an evening than with a studly man and some cool picture cards.

I'm going to put the kettle on and have some steamy cocoa before I crawl back into bed, so have a pleasant morning and stay warm. :)
