Daydream Believer

Been napping quite a bit lately- perhaps because I can't seem to get to sleep at night (or is this just a vicious cycle?). I had a fascinating dream this afternoon, though, that could possibly have been fodder for a short story if I was a little better at transferring thought to paper. Sort of a Gandalf character teaching a young woman the value of utilizing all the resources of the mind...

Dream study has been an on and off hobby of mine for several years. I don't really hold with the Freudian dream symbolism that so many "dream encyclopedias" profligate, but I like taking note of what I've dreamed and, more importantly, HOW I dreamed it. My dreams are incredibly sensory- everything is brighter, sharper, more colorful and clearer than it is in my day to day observance. Occasionally I'm a third person observer, sometimes I assume a character. Funny thing, though- no matter what the dream, I'm never wearing my glasses. Suppressed vanity making itself manifest? Nah... ;)

A friend of mine used to swear that his dreams ran exactly like a movie, complete with final credits. He's a bit of a critic, and I still can't decide if that's really the case, or if he's better trying to cement his supposed film superiority. (There's a whole 'nother topic in itself. Since when did watching a movie require intellectual sensitivity??? Anyway...)

It's currently 11 pm and no sign of fatigue yet, so it looks like another late night reading Skinny Panda comics and maybe throwing together some story notes. Maybe.

You should be listening to some counterpoint my dear friend. Perhaps some J.S. or G.F. or be a little more adventuresome with some Buxtehude. Man, how I miss whistling in couterpoint with you Meggy. :0)

After reviewing "Singing in the Rain" in Dreamland, he often had a wet bed too I suppose... LMAO!
