I wanted to post a little blurb about the advent concert at the church last night, but after three re-writes I still haven't quite hit on a means of expressing how I felt about it. I guess the one thing that really struck me was that they featured a toccata written by my old orchestration professor, who recently passed after a very short bout with spinal cancer. The piece was a lovely takeoff on some minor key hymns from a Ukrainian monastery, and it was so very much his style that I teared up at least twice. He was a sweet person, and I still feel awful that I wasn't in the area when they held the memorial service. His wife was in attendance last night to say a few words and introduce the piece, and afterwards I had the opportunity to speak with her for a few minutes. She's a lovely lady, and it made the evening a lot more memorable than it would have been otherwise.

Still debating whether or not to attempt the drive to work tomorrow... Barely made it up the hill this evening on the way home, so I'm having my doubts. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.... *hums*
