White Noise?

I haven't seen the movie yet, but it appears that our computer is haunted. I was casually cruising the internet and checking up on my webcomics when I distinctly heard the song "You Live, You Learn" floating from somewhere. The neighbors are all currently at work and I certainly didn't have any radio stations playing, so I felt that an investigation was in order. After several minutes of listening in various places, it turns out that MY COMPUTER SPEAKERS are playing their own elevator music. Is this a typical occurrence, or is my computer developing a mind of its own?

I had a possessed phone that was tuned to 92.5 wherever we lived.

Hmm..... while I was student teaching last semester I was living at Eagle Park. I had the exact same thing happen to me, lol. After getting my loan refund I bought some new, really good speakers for my computer. After owning these speakers for about a week or so I would constantly notice hearing music at a very faint volume level. Well, apparently my speakers were picking up some radio station in the Clarion area and I even had the power turned off on them, lol.
Hey, give me a buzz on AIM sometime when ya get the chance. I'd love to chat and have PLENTY more music I can send ya! Have a good day sis! :0)

Hey, Megin,

You're not hearing things and your computer is not possessed. It's all in the wiring of your computer and possibly the wiring of your building depending on how old it is.

The speaker wires are acting as an antenna and the built-in amplifier (in the speaker itself) is boosting the signal so that you can hear it. Your 'radio' is missing a rectifying circuit, but with a strong local signal, the signal can still come through. Some folks even claim that their dental work can resonate powerful radio signals.

Adjust the wires of your speakers. You can either vary the reception or stop it entirely. If they are close together or wrapped around each other, separate them.

I'm sorry if I ruined your supernatural phenomenon.

When I was a kid, I had a record player (that's how old I am!) that picked up phone conversations and spewed them from the speaker, even when the thing was turned off. The first time it happened, I about lost my mind with fear!
