And Now For Something A Little Different...

I saw this quiz at Frogs and Ravens and thought I'd give it a try. Wonder of wonders, I am:

pilot.
You are the pilot.

I've loved this story for years. At one point I had two paperback copies with the illustrations by de Saint-Exupery as well as the 1974 film version with Gene Wilder, and every time I read or watched it I ended up in tears. Perhaps someday my French will be fluent enough that I can attempt it in the original language. In any case, it's a beautiful story and I advise you to hunt up a copy and read it through. It's a slim little volume and delightful from beginning to end.

Interesting that I ended up as the pilot- I definitely identified with him more than any other character. (Perhaps that's the reason for the tears?) I was more a storyteller than an illustrator as a child, but I can still feel a certain connection in not exactly being understood, thus hiding things away. Fortunately, though, "what is essential is invisible to the eye."
